This entry looks at the fun side of my training and random things I experienced there...

Ah Datacom...
This is the first thing you would usually see when you get off on the first floor of the building our training was it. Since we didn't have those swipe cards we could only access the first floor after 9am, this was not taken in consideration when we were told to come in at 8:30am for our last day, we still had to wait until 9am to get onto our floor. Waste of 30 minutes, and to top it off on our last day we didn't leave until 6pm, when we were told we would get out early, early like 3pm! I wonder if we got paid for the extra time we wasted...

2 hours? I can stretch that...
Thats right, the only parking we had was this 2 hour parking lot, which meant every time we had a break I would go and move the car to another spot. After a while however I got tired of this and ended up forgetting (on purpose?) to move the car. Fortunately I never got fined at all. So while another trainee went and found paid parking, I stuck with my no-money ideals and paid no money to park for training. If you look closely you'll notice my vehicle behind the pole. For a whole week that particular spot was mine, being next to a pole made me somewhat safe...

Chess AND Checkers!
During our breaks and lunch times there wasn't very much to do at all, besides make tea/coffee (I made tea) or eat and chat. Our main form of fun turned out to be a chess and checkers set in the break room. Oh the fun we had playing chess or checkers! I won some matches and I lost some matches, but most of the time I won, and since I had not played chess in quite some time it was nice to finally get back into it, if only for a while. We had one particular player who was adamant about people moving quickly, which ruined my concentration because he'd keep saying "Move", "How about you move?". Well, I sure showed him one time, I beat him at checkers! And handily too! (don't ask about chess though...)

Move over HD, we've got Datacom TV!
Our other form of entertainment was this television, which during the day provided very little entertainment, unless you like Oprah. I don't. So I didn't watch much television at all, the blank screen proved much more interesting at time...
So overall the training was boring, like I said before, I escaped uni lectures only to come to another lecture, a full time lecture. Next time I find a job which required full time training I know what I'll be doing, bringing my own Chess and Checkers set!
And just for fun, here is a picture of me on my way to the interview the week before training started...

Nerves of steel!
